What is L.E.D Lighting

The letters in L.E.D stand for Light Emitting Diode. These diodes are a semiconductor light source that will conduct electricity in only one direction.

This next generation of LED Lighting is light years ahead

A L.E.D is a Light Emitting Diode. Diodes are a semiconductor device conducting electricity in a single direction. The diode is constructed of layers of different materials. This, together with the various designs, creates the different colours and intensities of the lights.

As historically L.E.D’s were too weak for commercial and residential applications, the technology in LED lighting is now suitable as a replacement for both fluorescent and incandescent bulbs.

This next generation of L.E.D’s is versatile, durable and emit light in all visible frequencies to produce white light with high brightness.

There are a number of clear benefits when using LED Lighting over traditional forms of lighting including:

  • Broad Spectrum: L.E.D’s emit light of any colour without colour filters. This is more efficient with lower overall costs.
  • Cool Lighting: L.E.D’s radiate very little heat and are sensitive to fabrics.
  • Dimming: L.E.D’s can very easily be dimmed.
  • Efficiency: L.E.D’s produce more light per watt than incandescent bulbs.
  • Focus: L.E.D lights can be designed to focus light. Incandescent and fluorescent lights need reflectors and shades to point light in a certain direction.
  • Long Life: L.E.Ds have a relatively long life with up to 100,000 hours of useful hours of light compared to 15,000 hours for fluorescent tubes and 2,000 hours for traditional incandescent bulbs.
  • Non-Toxic: L.E.D lights do not contain heavy metals or gases compared fluorescent bulbs.
  • On/Off Resistant: L.E.D’s do not burn-out with frequent on-off cycling and light up very quickly each time.
  • Shock resistance: L.E.D’s are solid so are difficult to damage with external shock unlike traditional bulbs which are fragile.
  • Size: L.E.D lights can be produced very small making them more versatile than incandescent or fluorescent lights.
  • Slow failure: L.E.D lights dim over time compared to the burn-out of incandescent bulbs.
The benefits are many and the savings you can make, huge. Replace your bulbs, globes and tubes with energy efficient LED lighting. Save electricity, save money. Contact us now to place your order.
